If you want to bring in more money, prosperity, and abundance into your life, there is one thing you need to do first: break the poverty mindset.
By definition, you have a poverty mindset if you self-sabotage and undermine your quest for abundance by having a negative stance towards abundance and wealth.
This also makes it hard for you to vibrate on a frequency that’s required to attract wealth and abundance.
Sometimes referred to as poverty mentality syndrome, the poverty mindset can creep up on you without you being aware of it.
Fortunately, there are many ways to break the poverty mindset.
Break the poverty cycle for good by keeping in mind the following tips:
Tip 1: Stop using negative words and language
To banish the “language of poverty,” you need to first remove any negative references to wealth from your vocabulary.
Most of the negative words that you associate with money often come from your family or the community where you come from.
Common examples of poverty language include:
- We could never afford that.
- Money doesn’t grow on trees.
- Earning money is hard.
All those examples put you in the role of a victim—a person incapable of controlling or shaping their own financial destiny.
Changing your money language is a huge step towards changing your financial future.
Tip 2: Change your concept of wealth
Changing how you see wealth is in itself a crucial step to breaking the poverty cycle.
In line with this, it would be ideal to view money from the perspective of someone who welcomes money and expects to receive it rather than from the mindset of someone who lacks money and fears it.
Visualisation exercises can be a powerful means to change your concept of wealth.
For starters, start visualising yourself manifesting a lot of money and feeling calm, happy, and confident about it.
The idea is to associate money with growth, well-being, and opportunity rather than associating it with jealousy, anxiety, and insecurity.
Tip 3: Do gratitude exercises
When you take the time to appreciate what you have, you are helping yourself move in a much more positive mental space.
Gratitude can also help you vibrate on a frequency of abundance rather than of lack.
Make it a point to actively practice gratitude each day.
One of the easiest ways to do this would be to have a gratitude journal.
You don’t necessarily need to write down elaborate entries.
Simply listing down 5 to 10 things you are grateful for each day can already make a world of difference.
Also, your gratitude entries don’t have to be linked to wealth and money all the time.
The goal is to focus on things you are grateful for so you can bring more of those into your life.
Tip 4: Learn to relax
One distinct difference between poor and rich mindsets is that the latter has a relaxed attitude towards abundance.
This can seem counterintuitive but in essence, this is all about expecting you will be abundant rather than believing you have to fight tooth and nail just to have money.
Various ways you can promote relaxation include reading, meditating, listening to music, or creating art.
Tip 5: Look after yourself
While it is important that you are consistently proactive to break the vicious cycle of poverty, it is also important that you practice self-care and recharge.
It is also important that you look out for warning signs of burnout like exhaustion, irritability, and bad mood.
In time, you will be able to spot burnout signs before it gets the best of you. Self-care can come in various forms.
Anything that promotes happiness, health, and self-respect falls under this broad heading.
Over to You
Lastly, don’t give up on your dreams of abundance. If you don’t experience abundance now, you probably just need to follow the tips laid out above. Stay consistent and it would only be a matter of time until you will enjoy money, wealth, and abundance!
